BT Be 4/4 no 12, vert/green, around 1931
In 1929, the BT (Bodensee-Toggenburgerbahn) decided to purchase 6 new Bo-Bo type locomotives. The locomotives were used for both passenger and freight trains. For many locomotive drivers, this locomotive was also responsible for the conversion from steam locomotive to electric locomotive. The locomotive has proven itself so well in its tough use that the EBT (Emmental-Burgdorf-Thun Bahn) also decided to order the same type of locomotive. 8 locomotives (numbers 101-108) were delivered with small changes. 2 machines were later transferred from EBT to SMB (Solothurn-Münster Bahn). Some historic locomotives are still in operation today.
