Our prototype with the train destination display "Augsburg" is one of the VT 628.0s stationed in Kempten from the start, which lost their Scharfenberg couplings in May 1985 in favor of conventional draw and buffer devices and were fitted with a buffer beam for this purpose. It was accepted on November 8, 1974 and drove, among other things, on the almost 40 km long, non-electrified double-track railway line Augsburg - Buchloe (current DB timetable route 971).
