The E6 series Shinkansen "Komachi" began operating in 2013. Originally it was nicknamed "Super Komachi", but after the 2014 timetable change, all trains of this type were operated with the E6 series and their names were unified to "Komachi". In response to the increase in foreign passengers with large pieces of luggage, the storage areas were modified by removing parts of the windows in carriages 13, 15 and 17.
