Based on the EW1 standard wagon with bellows and an ABDe4/8 type driver's cab, the Schweizerische Waggonfabrik Schlieren (SWS) delivered six Bt control wagons to the BLS in 1963. In 1970, 3 more of these control cars based on the modernized EW1 with rubber beading and an extended car body were delivered to the BLS. The control cars were used in commuter trains, among other things. From 2005, four converted control cars with the new numbers BDt 946-949 were in use with car trains and the Bt 951-953 were modernized with outward swinging doors in the shuttle trains.
