The term heavy-duty wagon is only used colloquially today, as it no longer finds an equivalent in the international classification of freight wagons according to the UIC. It is commonly understood to mean a relatively short bogie flat wagon with a flat wagon floor for transporting heavy loads such as machines, tanks or slabs.
