The development of car transporters continued due to changes in the requirements for the cars to be transported. In 1964, the TA 364, the first free-axle car transport vehicle with a length of 24.66 m, was developed. On this basis the descendants TA 370, TA 378, TA 379, TA 381 were created, the idea of which was to extend the vehicle length to up to 27m. Two vehicle decks served as loading areas for the French motor vehicles, the aim of which was to accommodate up to 18 small cars. This fleet of wagons still forms the basis for handling car transports in France and Italy.
