Gaugemaster M2000103 Starter set bimodal multiple unit GWR Class 800/0 IET Premium Ep.VI

These two new 5-car train sets in the N (1: 148) scale, which will be launched on the market in early 2021, are sure to be very popular with modern model makers. In the Gaugemaster Collection there will also be a corresponding starter set for each paint job.

The Class 800 AT300 is a bimodal multiple unit built by Hitachi for the Great Western Railway and the London North Eastern Railway. They use electric motors for the drive, but are also equipped with diesel generators for operation on tracks with overhead lines so that they can also run on non-electrified tracks. The trains are based on the Hitachi A-Train design and were built by Hitachi between 2014 and 2018.

The trains were assembled at Hitachi's Newton Aycliffe plant from body shells supplied from Kasado, Japan.

The Class 800 is part of the Intercity Express (IEP) program and belongs to the Hitachi AT300 product family. Your respective railway company has also given the units their own brands; at Great Western Railway they are called Intercity Express Trains and at London North Eastern Railway Azuma.
