PROTOTYPE
Like the iconic post box, the phone booth went through many variations before this standard design was settled on. The first drafts of the "red phone booth" were mainly seen in London. In 1935, the K6 Jubilee design, commemorating George V's Silver Jubilee, went into mass production and was exported nationwide. These replaced all non-standard sets throughout the United Kingdom, increasing their numbers from around nineteen thousand to around thirty-five thousand.
The design has changed little since then and these variants can still be found throughout the UK in towns and villages alike.
