The book Fritz Willke - Photographer and Archivist aroused the desire for another publication of this kind in many readers. However, in view of the literature available to date on railway service cars and service freight cars, an illustrated book without the necessary background information would have "jumped too short". Stefan Carstens and Wolfgang Henn have therefore decided not only to give an overview of the variety of railway service cars and service freight cars in this book, but also to provide a well-founded introduction to the complex subject matter, using selected photos by Fritz Willke and many other well-known photographers.
