Freight wagon volume 3 - Open wagons - was first published in 1996. It was the first freight wagon book with detailed freight wagon drawings and detailed lists of wagon numbers created in a graphics program (Macromedia Freehand). After more than 25 years, an addition is therefore overdue. This applies both to numerous freight car models that have appeared in the meantime and to the large amount of prototype information that is now accessible and evaluable.
In the second brochure we describe the development after 1945: from the first rebuilt cars at DB and DR, through the development of modern two-axle vehicles with steel car bodies throughout Europe to the four-axle models at DB and DR. The main topics are the development from the end of the 1940s, open EUROP wagons in the prototype and in the model, UIC St types, Omm 52 and sugar beet traffic, from repair to new construction at the DB, bogie wagons from the DR, Mod, Reko, UIC St and used wagons from the DR, Eaos and Eanos in Europe.
