Finished model Leonard converter
Ready-made model of a Leonard converter to match our industrial and colliery buildings.
The Leonard converter is also called the Ward-Leonard converter after its inventor, the American electrical engineer Harry Ward Leonard. It consists of a converter (which converts three-phase current into a variable direct voltage) and a direct current motor connected to it. Until the development of power semiconductors such as thyristors, the Leonard theorem was the only way to realize large variable-speed drives that were fed with three-phase current (Q: Wikipedia).
