The advantage is the easy installation
The major advantage over magnetic switching contacts is its simplicity. No magnets need to be attached to the locomotives; the locomotive switches the contact with its wheel.

The contacts are designed for both fixed and flexible tracks in N gauge (Fleischmann, Minitrix, Peco, Kato...)
