About the original: The Volkswagen Golf Mk4 was introduced in 1997. Compared to the predecessors the Golf Mk4 was more upmarket and proved to be populair once again. In Europe the production of the Golf Mk 4 hatchback ended in 2003. In some markets sales of these cars ended after 2010.
