The ILLUMATIK house lighting control system brings realistic and varied lighting to houses and buildings on model railways. Instead of simply switching windows and rooms on and off together, the module controls individual lighting areas according to different time sequences. This creates the impression of a real, inhabited building with changing lighting in different rooms.
Fourteen outputs and five different building modes are available. Depending on the model, the control system can be operated as a single-family home, a two-family home, a multi-family home with four or six residential units, or an apartment building with twelve residential units.
The outputs can be configured to control, for example, outdoor lighting, hallway, living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, children's room, basement, dining room, guest room or individual apartments, depending on the chosen program.
Time-controlled and partially random sequences provide additional variety. For example, the exterior lighting is not activated immediately when the layout is switched on, but after a randomly determined time. This means that not all buildings on a larger model railway layout light up at the same time.
The manufacturer also highlights the random and time-dependent lighting sequences as an essential feature of ILLUMATIK.
The speed of the simulation can be adjusted to suit individual preferences.
Five time factors are available: 1x, 4x, 10x, 20x, and 100x. At 1x, the simulation runs in real time, while higher factors accelerate the lighting changes for model railway operation.
The selection is made directly via two buttons on the module.
The module can be operated with 9–16 V DC or AC voltage. The polarity of the supply voltage is irrelevant. LEDs can be used individually or in series, parallel, or combined series/parallel circuits; suitable series resistors are required for each LED.
